Kung fu much more than a concept
In the world of martial arts is often mistakenly confused the concept of kung fu, encompassing all the arts from northern and southern China but the truth is that kung fu is not a martial style per se, but a way of life and especially of self-knowledge.
In this section we will show you one of the practices known as “Kung fu cha” or as the preparation of tea is commonly known. A space that goes far beyond the physical and mental martial practice.
The importance of kung fu cha
Kung fu cha is a space dedicated to the philosophy that surrounds kung fu. The essence of martial art is to be able to dedicate some time each week to find ourselves through the great texts such as the Tao Te Ching, the Wo Bu chin, the Analects of Confucius.
As well as other texts of oriental nature, and that seek the inner transcendence of the person who reads them.
It is important to take care of the internal aspect, it is as important as the wing chun classes, so we also have to be trained in our internal aspect, working the mind and emotions together with our physical body through the wing chun techniques.
What is a kung fu cha session like?
Every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. the school opens its doors to begin a journey of reflection. The first hour consists of the preparation of tea, which is prepared by the youngest or shortest student.
During this time, each person can share whatever he/she wants and even bring up any issue that concerns him/her or needs to be clarified. Shortly after all the attendees have arrived, the round of reflection begins, where the Sifu is in charge of moderating and linking the topics.
Much more than philosophy
Depending on the topic, there may be rounds of questions, practical exercises or guided meditations. An important part of a kung fu session is to know how to discern the topics discussed as a link between soul, being and philosophy.
Last but not least, there are readings of stories, texts and different material with which to deepen and share ideas. Sometimes the kung fu cha class can have unexpected consequences, but ultimately it is an experience that brings together the true essence of kung fu regardless of the style involved.
